In 2022 I decided to start my university career, I thought I was ready to live the adventure of moving alone to another state, to start my life, but the affection and love I have for my parents is much stronger. However, one day, I decided to be strong and start living in Querétaro. Everything was going well. We had found a cheap apartment close to the university. I remember that I shared a room with a girl and a bathroom, kitchen, living room, and dining room with another 6, It was quite uncomfortable to tell the truth, but the road was just beginning. After two months, my mother became seriously ill, and I didn’t think about it for a second. I wanted to return to be with her.
I felt too desperate because I knew that if I left everything I was building, sooner or later, I would regret it. Fortunately, on my way, I found a very special person, my university tutor. She looked for scholarships and institutional support to help me cover some expenses in my university life, and that is how we met The Gibson Soto Foundation. It is not possible to express in words the emotion that we felt. My family and I could not believe that there were people in the world capable of supporting others without bad intentions.
I knew that the institution would support me not only by paying school expenses but it would also support me with a home, a balanced diet, and human development workshops that were and are key pieces on this path. I learned to manage my emotions, not to worry about things that are not within my reach, to set my goals and clear objectives, to be the owner of my time and know how to manage it properly; Some workshops have allowed me to learn a variety of things: public speaking, first aid, sexual health, personal hygiene, they are even supporting me to implement a project in my community to develop the professional skills that I have learned throughout my college degree. There are also English classes, which are very enriching and from which I have learned a lot. I had the opportunity to meet a very nice person, she was my teacher for a while and a mentor in some English practices. She is a native of the United States, and clearly, with her help my level of English and pronunciation improved.
There is a better part, I had the joy of meeting other girls with my situation. They were a solid foundation in my adaptation. I love them like my sisters. In my opinion it is the most beautiful thing that The Gibson Soto Foundation has given me.
Without realizing it, my life changed, and now I feel fulfilled because I can follow my dreams without depending financially on my parents. I can also visit them every week to fill myself with beautiful energy with their company and return to continue working hard and thus be able to achieve all those goals that I thought were very far away.
